What We Do

The CSI is initiated and implemented by, and for, civil society organizations at the country level, and during the 2003-2006 phase, was implemented in more than 50 countries around the world. It involved and disseminated its findings to a broad range of stakeholders including government, donors, academics and the public at large. Please see the "Publications" menu item to the left for more information on the books published, and the "Country Reports" menu item to access the reports generated during this phase of CSI implementation. The two primary goals of the CSI are: to enhance the strength and sustainability of civil society, and to strengthen civil society's contribution to positive social change. To achieve these goals in the 2003-2006 phase, civil society stakeholders made use of participatory and other research methods to create an assessment of the state of civil society. This assessment was then used to collectively set goals and create an agenda for strengthening civil society in the future. |
